Foodie outings for families

August 21, 2017 • In Family favourites

Take the kids on a tasty adventure with these fun, foodie ideas for day trips and things to do. Check out local social media groups for a better idea of what’s on near you, and take a look at your local council website for information on food markets or one-off events across the summer.

PICK YOUR OWN FARMS

Grab a punnet and head out to your nearest pick-your-own farm. It’s a brilliant way to show kids the different ways that fruit grows, and you can play treasure hunt games with different types of fruit. Get home and turn your bounty into something special like these smoothie ice lollies.

PRODUCERS' MARKET

Choose a lovely veg-based recipe for dinner, like these colourful veg tartlets or this epic veggie lasagne, enlist the kids to help draw up the shopping list, then head to your nearest farmer’s market. Make a game of finding everything you need and using the right money to pay for it. Bring everything back to the kitchen and reward the family with their tasty dish!
